A like Aisling

Her name in Irish Gaelic means "dream", "vision", and matches her perfectly. She is an ethereal blonde with a Slav-type appearance and soul. Delicate, romantic, sensitive. My first Irish friend, a walking contradiction of Dubliner havers-of-a-good-time, who focus on catching a husband, just like female characters of Jane Austen's novels. Perhaps her ancestors had arrived in the Emerald Island from a grey country located by the Vistula River? She wants to know everything about Poland: what was the partition period, what is our attitude towards Germans and Russians, what do the Warsaw streets look like, are we very religious, what is the taste of Polish chocolate? She is the only Irish person I met who made the effort to learn the pronunciation of my name in Polish, although our language sounds to her as a melodic hush-hush sequence. We do not know each other very well; we share the office and chat over our computer keyboards. We share small secrets of ours too. We make up places which we are going to visit together - in Dublin and in Warsaw. I like her very much.
